Dr. Lora Green has over 30 years experience in the life science, pharmaceutical, and biotech fields. From 2001 to 2018, Lora was an administrative patent judge at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), serving as a lead administrative patent judge of the biotech team from 2011 to 2017.
While at the USPTO, she managed post-grant review proceedings, such as inter partes and post grant reviews, where she was involved in over 380 post-grant review proceedings. She also mentored judges who were new to post grant-review proceedings and reviewed opinions of other authoring judges. In addition, she decided over 4,000 ex parte appeals from the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device examining groups. She was part of developing the “Orange Book Project” dedicated to evaluating the intersection of post-grant proceedings and Hatch-Waxman litigation.
After the USPTO, Lora was a partner in the DC office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati, where she assisted many start-ups with strategic patent prosecution, and also focused on proceedings before the PTAB, including post grant reviews and interferences, especially in the life sciences. At Wilson Sonsini, Lora also focused on patent counseling, patent strategy, and patent prosecution, especially for early-stage life science companies.
Earlier in her career, Lora was an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where she prosecuted applications in the biotechnology field before the USPTO and international applications submitted under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
After graduating first in her law school class at George Washington University, Lora served as a law clerk to the Honorable William C. Bryson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She started her career in patent law at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where she was a primary examiner.
Dr. Green was recognized as one of the Top 50 Women in PTAB Trials (2025) by the PTAB Bar Association.
